The use of the intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy has however not been standardized as a fully recommended treatment for ovarian cancer even though it tends to work as a first time treatment.
Radiation therapy is also at times recommended as an ovarian cancer treatment option although this is not good for the later stages of the disease. This is simply because when the important organs are exposed to radiation, it is difficult and very risky to have the right dose monitored. Therefore at the late stages, this form of treatment is avoided as the important organs might not be able to handle the after effects.
